Small team of 3 colleagues from work were contracted to make 10 mini games for team-building program installed in a training center of Skoda Auto in Mlada Boleslav. The theme of this program was electro mobility, teaching employees about the advantages and process of how electro cars are made and why. The team-building is available for all 35000 employees of Skoda and will be run for several years.
8 of the games were installed on 8 touch enabled TVs positioned in octagon facing together enabling the team to play as many games simultaneously as they can handle and collect the most points they can within the 30 minutes mark. Each game can be replayed as many times as they want to, counting the highest score for the team’s total points. Check overview of the games screens here.
Several accompanyins screens were made to support the games such as main menu, leaderboard, admin’s screen.
First game represented mechanisms which make factory a functional and productive one. Each game started with simple tutorial and also an end screen telling players how they did in comparison with the previous game.
Second game represented quality of the cars and how to keep it on good level.
Third game taught about efficiency in factory while constructing the car from various parts.
Fourth game represented development capacities showing operation on global markets, how demand changes and how it has to be balanced with production to not waste efforts.
Fifth game represented balancing costs between employing and training employees and value they produce while working.
Sixth game showed what it takes to make a functional factory and that innovations are neccessary to keep it working.
Seventh game represented the importance of international cooperation in the business.
Aim of the eight game was to teach which technologies and functions can be used to decrease the impact of making electric cars on ecologic footprint.
There were two bonus games that we originally didn’t know about and came along as the other parts of the training were being built.
Ninth game showcased autonomous driving and moments during the drive where a drivers needs to make the right decision. This game featured a tablet held by one of the team members where the choices were shown and had to be chosen and a video of a drive through a city where at trigger points the video has stopped with overlaying graphics of highlighted items to focus on and a countdown. The drive finished on coming home. Check the whole prototype here.
The last game featured a map of city projected on a table split into 6 sectors for users to upgrade. The map started as dirty city full of gas car and with users using chips to upgrade each part it transformed into futuristic clean city using electric cars. This was one of the most consuming parts of the whole project and even though most of the assets were bought it still took considerable time to piece it all together. Check the whole prototype here.
If you’re curious, here you can see pics at various stages of progress of how it came together.
The last part was working on accompanying large scale printed graphics that was glued on the walls, doors and windows around the area of the games.
